Biografija:

DJ Ninja (Nina) started dj-ing at the age of 19. She is the first and the only female hip hop DJ in Slovenia at the moment. During this time, she has been spinning all over Slovenia, in all the biggest clubs and events and is one of the most active hip hop DJs in the state. Besides hip hop, her club sets include some r’n’b, soul, dancehall, funk and disco sounds. The story behind..After a few months of spinning at private parties, the debut came 27.1.2001 at club SubSub in Ljubljana. It was a special Radyoyo newcomers party where she performed next to DJs Supastar and Kustur. In spite of being nervous as hell, her music set was excellent, the crowd loved it and she loved it even more. From then on, nothing would stop her. She was officialy the first female hip hop dj in the country and still is. Some have even called her »the first lady« of slovenian hip hop. Teaming up with one of the best slovenian MCs, Vaterap and performing across the country was the only time she has collaborated and performed concerts, but otherwise has stayed a club dj. She has spinned all over Slovenia in all major clubs and venues, such as Krizanke; has been a resident DJ in K4 and Basic and a guest DJ in clubs in Ljubljana, Kranj, Skofja Loka, Celje, Velenje, Nova Gorica, Maribor etc. And it doesn’t end in Slovenia. In Paris, DJ Fab did an interview with her and ask her to perform a short set live on his radio show, which went quite well, introducing some slovenian rap music to Paris airwaves. Performing also in Zurich (Club Mascotte), Vienna, Zagreb, Split and Skopje, she is one of few hip hop DJs, who have spinned abroad. Recently she made connection with DJ 279 from London, who has helped her with her skillz; he is known for being a very good mentour for a few rising DJs in the UK and is an excellent DJ himself. One of high points of Nina’s career so far was performing in front of a big crowd at the concert of KRS ONE in 2005 in Ljubljana; before and after the concert along with Dj Supastar. Krs One, »the teacher«, being one of the best hip hop MCs ever the performance was a big thing for her. Also, recently she performed with CAMP LO at their concert in Ljubljana. In Nina’s opinion, a good DJ must know the past and the present of hip hop and integrate that into the music sets and be as creative as possible. That’s why a lot of times she can surprise with some old and almost forgotten tunes just to spice up the place. Overall, she is a great party DJ and the crowds love her. As long as she’s loving it, Nina has no intentions to stop spinning those records.
